Pelican Casino — depositing with Bancontact

The first impression: Pelican Casino is a foreign operator without a Belgian licence. For that reason, this is correctly executed, without frills.

On payments, Belgium leaves little choice: the deposit runs through Bancontact or Bancontact Pay, and winnings return through the bank. The rename from Payconiq to Bancontact Pay dates from March 2026. Bancontact coverage in Belgium is close to complete, where going below €5 is rarely possible.
Bancontact Pay limits to €1500 per operation and €2500 per 24 hours. Available directly, no waiting; the way back usually costs one to three banking days, and the operator adds its own check on top.
The hard numbers
| Type | foreign operator |
| Oversight | Belgian Gaming Commission |
| Licence | no Belgian licence |
| Operator | — |
| Tax on winnings | none for the player |
| Deposit limit | €200 per week (default) |
| Self-exclusion | EPIS |

What the law imposes
On player protection, Belgium sits above the European average in strictness and it is built that way on purpose. On any licensed site the weekly limit defaults to €200.
The Gaming Commission keeps one central exclusion register in EPIS: the exclusion applies instantly across the whole licensed landscape. The entry point is the Gaming Commission. The bar has stood at 21 since 1 September 2024, lottery aside; 18 still applies at the National Lottery alone. The check is automatic.

- Which payment method is best?
Yes, by card or app. The payout then runs by bank transfer. Turnaround depends mostly on the operator, not on Bancontact. A different name on the account blocks the payout.
- What should I watch in the bonus?
Always work the wagering through: 35x on a €50 bonus means €1,750 of turnover before a payout. The terms usually sit at the bottom of the bonus page. Bonus money and own money are often counted separately.
- Can I play from 18?
21 — that has been the rule since the 2024 reform, National Lottery aside. A falsified age costs you the whole balance at payout. The 2024 reform aligned every form of play.
- Is there tax on winnings?
Not for the player. Belgium taxes the operator, not the winner. No declaration is therefore needed. Ask for advice if large amounts are involved.
- Is there a deposit limit?
€200 per week per site by default. Lowering it is immediate; raising it needs a check and a delay. A lower limit is active immediately. The ceiling counts per week, not per month.
